BETWEEN ITALY AND LIBYA – STORIES OF ABUSE

The summer of 2019 has been characterized by a war against rescue at sea and the continuing deaths that stain the Mediterranean with blood, while the consecutive government acts in continuity with the previous one.

THE LIMBO OF HOTSPOTS AND RELOCATION PRACTICES

The achievement of the Malta deal, which will regulate the automatic distribution of asylum seekers within the EU member states, has been celebrated as a success. However, the situation inside the Sicilian hotspots continues to deteriorate.

Long waiting times for redistribution – up to three months –, lack of medical and psychological support, absence of legal aid and complete inexistence of mediators. These are only a few of the critical points signaled from inside the hotspots.
